Big visitor day for the puppies! Trish and part of her family (they own Jill – now Méabh) from our Charlie’s Angels Litter) came for an afternoon puppy fix. Then another long time friend came for some puppy love a few hours later. All 6 puppies loved to crawl all over their new friends and even enjoyed a few tugs on their clothes here and there!

We also switched out their plastic kennel for a wire crate. There really isn’t a big reason why we did this other than to get the puppies used to a different type of crate. When we originally put the plastic kennel in their area, I don’t think that I went into the important of crate training. The crate is never a punishment and always a safe place for the puppy/dog. That is their area to have for themselves and somewhere that they can go when you are not able to keep an eye on them or need to run some errands.
When we have a puppy, we crate an area that is partially gated off with a crate attached. This allows for them to have extra room to be other than their crate but still be in a confined place where they cannot get into trouble. It look very similar to our current puppy pen, but on a much smaller scale. We do continue to use their potty in their small area during this time and one by the door to start to nudge them to eventually go outside to do their business.
